Research & Method

Philosophical in origin. Practical in application.

A short, honest account of where the framework comes from, how CQ4 is constructed, and the limits we keep visible. The invitation is not to adopt a philosophy, but to observe experience more consciously.

Sources

Where it comes from.

A long tradition of inquiry

The framework draws inspiration from a long tradition of inquiry into human consciousness, including the work of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

Four powers, contemporary frame

These ideas have been translated into a contemporary framework centred on four powers: Wisdom, Strength, Harmony and Perfection.

Philosophical in origin, practical in application

No belief system is required. The invitation is not to adopt a philosophy, but to observe experience more consciously.

Method

How CQ4 is constructed.

01

Sub-power articulation

Each of the four powers is articulated through sub-powers — concrete qualities expressed in ordinary life and work.

02

Statement design

Statements are written in plain, contemporary English, in the first person and present tense.

03

Independent reading

The four powers are read separately. There is no composite, no average and no overall score.

04

Returned to in time

The reading is the beginning of awareness. Returning to it after time has passed is the intended use.

Limits

What it does not do.

  • CQ4 is a self-report. It reflects how the four powers are currently expressed — not a measurement of who you are.
  • It is not a clinical instrument. It does not diagnose, screen or evaluate mental health.
  • It is not predictive of performance, success, leadership or compatibility.
  • It is not normative. There is no ideal profile, no recommended balance, no target score.
  • It does not classify anyone as more or less evolved, advanced or conscious than anyone else.
